The incident occurred early Sunday morning when a black Volkswagen, driven by a 29-year-old man from Oak Park, was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near 11 Mile Road in Royal Oak. The vehicle collided head-on with a Dodge Caravan, leading to fatal consequences.
According to Michigan State Police, the crash resulted in the deaths of the Volkswagen driver and three occupants of the Dodge Caravan. Among the deceased were a 34-year-old man from Troy, a 54-year-old man from Mexico, and a 71-year-old man from Mexico. The impact of the collision was so severe that all four lost their lives at the scene.
A fourth occupant of the Dodge Caravan, a 31-year-old woman from Troy, survived the crash but sustained significant injuries. She is currently receiving medical care in the hospital, where she is expected to recover.
