Three Injured in Metro Detroit I-94 Collision In Reckless Driving
VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, MI — Three people, including two children, suffered serious injuries in a Metro Detroit I-94 collision caused by a reckless driver on Tuesday, according to Michigan State Police.
Authorities reported that the accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94, just before Belleville Road, at around 2 p.m. The driver at fault was attempting to cross multiple lanes to make an exit when they collided with another vehicle.
The impacted vehicle rolled up the right embankment and then back down onto the service drive. Inside the overturned car were an adult and two children, ages 8 and 9, who sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver responsible for the crash was unharmed. Investigators confirmed that alcohol, drugs, or medication were not factors in the incident.
Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw remarked, “We continue to see preventable crashes caused by risky driving behaviors. A family received serious injuries because a driver couldn’t just wait for the next exit. Be aware of your location and make smart decisions behind the wheel.”
