Woman Killed, Two Injured in Oakland County Crash

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A tragic collision in Oakland County left one woman dead and two others injured Wednesday night, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. This devastating accident has highlighted the importance of understanding victims’ rights to compensation and the support they can receive in such situations.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Holly Road at the Dixie Highway in Springfield Township. According to authorities, 34-year-old Renee Vilders was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Holly Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at Dixie Highway. As a result, her vehicle collided with a 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The impact sent both vehicles off the road and into nearby trees.

The Equinox eventually came to rest on its side against the trees. Tragically, Vilders was pronounced dead at the scene. The 64-year-old male driver of the GMC Sierra and his 61-year-old passenger, both from Groveland Township, were transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were listed in stable condition.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. It remains unclear if alcohol played a role, as autopsy results are pending. However, officials confirmed that all parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Compensation Available for Victims

In situations like this, victims and their families may be entitled to various forms of compensation. Survivors who sustain injuries can seek damages for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. In cases involving fatalities, the family of the deceased may file wrongful death claims, which can provide compensation for funeral costs, loss of companionship, and emotional distress.

Understanding and pursuing these claims can be a complex and overwhelming process, especially in the aftermath of such a traumatic event. This is where our experienced attorneys at Mihelich & Kavanaugh, PLC step in to provide much-needed guidance and legal support.
